Voltan consolidates its position as a commissioning specialist with the acquisition of Aplipem

  • Voltan, an international group focused on energy transition and renewable energies, accelerates its growth following the acquisition of Aplipem, a leading electrical and instrumentation & control (I&C) commissioning specialist

Zaragoza/A Coruña, June 29th, 2022. – Voltan, the Spanish technical services group specialized in the energy industry backed by Henko Partners, is integrating Aplipem to complement its commissioning business unit. With this strategic transaction, Voltan is consolidating its position as a full-service commissioning provider.

Aplipem offers a portfolio of highly specialized electrical services in the assembly and start-up phase of power generation plants, as well as in the transmission and distribution infrastructure. The service offering includes engineering, testing, inspection, commissioning, and operation & maintenance (“O&M”). Outside of Spain, the Company has executed projects in more than 10 countries across South America and the Middle East.

This is the third acquisition by Henko Partners in its buy-and-build strategy Voltan, after the acquisition of MMYPEM and Teiga TMI in 2021.

Francisco Villarino, founder and CEO of Aplipem, will take over Voltan’s commissioning business unit. He has over 20 years of experience in the energy sector and has held several senior positions at leading companies in the sector, such as OHL and Técnicas Reunidas.

According to Francisco Villarino, “the Company is in a great position to take advantage of the growth in renewables and energy infrastructure projects. And we see a strong fit between Voltan’s portfolio of services and ours. We are convinced that our new joint capabilities and strong market reputation will further accelerate the growth of Voltan.”

Bird & Bird advised Voltan on this transaction.
